Syracuse Welcomes Wicked

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Mulroy Civic Center At Oncenter (Crouse Hinds Theater)Have you ever wondered why the Tin Man needed a heart?  Or how the Scarecrow became mindless?  Have you ever pondered why the Cowardly Lion was so scared all the time?  There are answers to these questions, and you will find them in the stunning, Tony Award-winning musical, Wicked.  Before Dorothy was told to follow the yellow brick road, a friendship developed between two witches.  One of the witches was green and misunderstood, and the other one was blonde and popular.  This unlikely friendship has inspired some of the most wonderful music and lyrics that Broadway has ever seen.  Thank you, Stephen Schwartz.

The Oncenter Complex in Syracuse, NY will be the home for the touring production of Wicked for the latter part of January, 2010.  Donna Vivino, a Broadway actress since the age of 8 in Les Miserables, portrays Elphaba, the character better known as the Wicked Witch of the West.  The beautiful Glinda is brought to life by Chandra Lee Schwartz, who has graced the Broadway stage in Hairspray and Gypsy.  Marilyn Caskey, whose credits include Macbeth, takes on the powerful role of Madame Morrible.  And the “man behind the curtain” is portrayed by Richard Kline, who has also been on Broadway, but is well-known as Larry, Jack Tripper’s friend on Three‘s Company.

Wicked Drops a House in Philadelphia

The Academy Of MusicSomewhere over the rainbow, two witches, the good one and the green one, became best friends while attending school in Oz.  You may be wondering how, or you may be wondering why they didn’t appear to be friends in the classic Wizard of Oz.  Well, let’s just say there was much more going on in Oz when Dorothy landed than we could ever tell.  Wicked, directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, is the story of what was going on behind the emerald curtain and how two friends would sacrifice anything, even their friendship, to end the corruption of Oz.

Wicked comes to the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, PA at the beginning of 2010.  Experiencing one of Broadway’s most incredible musicals in a newly renovated and restored theater, including a restored crystal chandelier, is a great way to ring in the New Year.  Marcie Dodd, coming straight from the Broadway production, portrays Elphaba, the character better known as the Wicked Witch of the West.  The beautiful and popular Glinda is brought to life by Helen Yorke, who has graced the Broadway stage in Grease.  Marilyn Caskey, whose Broadway credits include Gypsy and Phantom of the Opera, takes on the powerful role of Madame Morrible.  And the “man behind the curtain” is portrayed by Tom McGowan, who has also been on Broadway, but is well-known as Bernie, Raymond’s friend on the popular TV show Everybody Loves Raymond.

Tickets for Wicked at the Academy of Music go on sale October 16, 2009.  Performances will begin January 6, 2010 and end January 24, 2010.  You definitely do not want to miss this show, so check out wickedticketsny.net for the best deals you can find on the internet.  Enter the code word “wicked” to get 5% off of your entire ticket purchase!

Get WICKED in Providence, RI

Something bad is happening in the Wonderful World of Oz.  Animals are not being allowed to speak, monkeys are turning into winged creatures, and Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West are going to the Emerald City to find out why.  WHAT???  They are going together?  Yes, before Dorothy opened that door into Munchkinland, Glinda and Elphaba were best friends.  Of course, they didn’t become friends immediately, but once Glinda vows to make her new friend “Popular”, the two become inseparable.

Wicked takes us on the journey of the friends’ determination to figure out who or what is disturbing the peace in Oz.  The music and lyrics written by Stephen Schwartz transport the audience to that magical place over the rainbow, causing us to experience a huge range of emotions, eliciting rip-roaring laughter or silent tears.

The Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island brings you this amazing musical beginning December 16, 2009, and will continue to run through January 10, 2010.  And what better place to see this production than a renovated, classic New England theater with outstanding acoustics?  Rumor has it that if you have the opportunity to see a show at this venue, you should definitely take it!  Tickets for Wicked in Providence go on sale on October 17, 2009.  Check us out at wickedticketsny.net for your best deals on tickets in all touring cities!  Enter the code word “wicked” to receive a 5% discount on your entire purchase.

Wicked Ready to Take Kansas City by Storm!

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

One of Broadway’s most popular musicals is about to follow the Yellow Brick Road right to Music Hall in Kansas City, MO.  Wicked, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and based upon the novel by Gregory Maguire, reveals what was really going on before Dorothy decided to appear in Oz.  Haven’t you ever wondered how Dorothy ended up in Oz anyway?  Or why the lion is so darn scared?  Or better yet, why was Elphaba born with green skin?  These questions and many more are answered through the wonder that is Wicked.

Music Hall in Kansas City will be the home to the national tour of Wicked from November 11 through December 6, 2009.  The cast is bound to astound audiences, consisting of Marcie Dodd, direct from the Broadway company, as Elphaba, Helen Yorke, Marilyn Caskey, and Tom McGowan, who some of us may know as Ray‘s friend Bernie from “Everybody Loves Raymond”.   Performances are surely going to sell out, so make sure you jump on this opportunity to learn how the Witches of Oz became best friends, only to later become “wicked” and “good”.

Wicked Cleveland Ohio

Long before Elmira Gulch stole Toto from Dorothy, two young girls became friends in Oz. One was green and one was popular. Needless to say, the green girl later became known as the Wicked Witch of the West, and the popular girl was cherished in Oz as the Good Witch. The story of Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship is revealed in Wicked, featuring music and lyrics by Steven Schwartz, and is coming to the State Theatre in downtown Cleveland, OH.  Opening its doors in 1921, the State Theatre is one of several theatres making up Playhouse Square, which is a non-profit performing arts community. Its location among shops, hotels, and restaurants makes for a wonderfully unique day or night at the theatre.

Wicked’s promising company is led by Chandra Lee Schwartz, credits including Hairspray and High School Musical touring companies, and Donna Vivino, who can be heard on the CD recording of Les Miserables at age 8 as Cosette.  This wonderfully written story of two best friends will not only stimulate your senses, but will also touch your heart.

Tickets go on sale August 21, 2009. Be sure to catch Wicked at the State Theatre from November 18, 2009 through December 13, 2009. The Orpheum Theatre Cannot Let Wicked Go

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

No one mourns the wicked, unless however, you have not yet seen the story behind the Yellow Brick Road.  Based on the novel by Gregory Macguire, Wicked, the musical, transcends a time when the Scarecrow was missing his brain and there was more to the Wicked Witch of the East than those black and white striped stockings and sparkly ruby slippers.

If you are in the San Francisco area, and have not yet checked out what happened before the tornado struck Kansas, you are in luck.  Wicked, consisting of an amazing cast including Teal Wicks, Kendra Kassebaum, and Patti Duke, has extended its run through the end of September, 2009.  You can get your Wicked tickets for the best prices at wickedticketsny.net!  Enter the discount code word “wicked” when placing your order, and you will receive 5% off your ticket purchase. Wicked, One of Broadway’s Most Powerful Musicals

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Somewhere over the rainbow, we have all followed the Yellow Brick Road.  In our journey, we have met the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and ahhhh shucks, that cute Cowardly Lion.  But did we ever stop to think why our friends had to search for a brain, a heart, and just a wee bit of courage???  Did we ever wonder what was going on in Oz BEFORE Dorothy landed on the Wicked Witch of the East?  And what was so important about those shoes?  I mean, we know they were magical, but why?

Wicked, one of Broadway’s most powerful musicals to date, answers these and several other questions about Oz that you never thought to ask.  Its web of magic, color, and intrigue imports us to a time when the animals of Oz could speak, the Tin Man had a heart, and Elphaba and Glinda were not yet “witches”, but rather two good friends.  Two BEST friends.

Because so many of us are drawn to the notion of “what happened before Dorothy dropped in”, tickets for Wicked are extremely hard to find.   Not only is Wicked selling out on Broadway, but also in cities across the country…maybe even in your hometown!

Wicked Tickets NY has discount wicked tickets for all shows in all locations, from New York City to Seattle, and even in Kansas.
