Have you ever wondered why the Tin Man needed a heart?  Or how the Scarecrow became mindless?  Have you ever pondered why the Cowardly Lion was so scared all the time?  There are answers to these questions, and you will find them in the stunning, Tony Award-winning musical, Wicked.  Before Dorothy was told to follow the yellow brick road, a friendship developed between two witches.  One of the witches was green and misunderstood, and the other one was blonde and popular.  This unlikely friendship has inspired some of the most wonderful music and lyrics that Broadway has ever seen.  Thank you, Stephen Schwartz.

The Oncenter Complex in Syracuse, NY will be the home for the touring production of Wicked for the latter part of January, 2010.  Donna Vivino, a Broadway actress since the age of 8 in Les Miserables, portrays Elphaba, the character better known as the Wicked Witch of the West.  The beautiful Glinda is brought to life by Chandra Lee Schwartz, who has graced the Broadway stage in Hairspray and Gypsy.  Marilyn Caskey, whose credits include Macbeth, takes on the powerful role of Madame Morrible.  And the “man behind the curtain” is portrayed by Richard Kline, who has also been on Broadway, but is well-known as Larry, Jack Tripper’s friend on Three‘s Company.
